Between Two Worlds: A New Podcast Series
Between 2001 and 2013, the Ford Foundation’s International Fellowships Program (IFP) supported graduate or postgraduate-level education for 4,305 emerging social justice leaders from 22 countries. Selected participants came from marginalized communities and had to demonstrate a commitment to social justice and community leadership. The Ford Foundation provided $417 million in funding resources for IFP, the single largest program commitment in its history at that time.
Since 2013, IIE’s Research, Evaluation, and Learning Unit has led a Tracking Study of the impact IFP has had on its alumni and the communities around them.
This podcast series, Between Two Worlds, focuses on IFP alumni still living outside their country of origin—approximately 13% of the global IFP Alumni population. Join us as we profile this small but powerful cohort of global citizens —and share new data that explores why they didn’t return home after the fellowship, how they stay deeply connected to their communities at home, and what motivates them to continue working for social justice long after their fellowships ended.
Between Two Worlds is hosted by IFP Alumni Tracking Study team members Bridget Barry and Nora Nemeth.
