Poster: Expanding Internationalization Through Recruitment in Sub-Saharan Africa

The number of undergraduate and graduate student applications from Sub-Saharan African students continues to grow. This poster will combine effective data presentation and visualization with data-informed content for international student outreach and recruitment. The poster will include region-specific data from Open Doors 2022 on international students from Sub-Saharan Africa. The poster will also have some of the emerging trends in student mobility from SSA and the reasons behind it. Finally, the poster will include some effective tools for future international student outreach and recruitment specifically from Sub-Saharan Africa, rooted in our knowledge shared through Education USA.

English for Heritage Language Speakers
English for Heritage Language Speakers (EHLS) provides heritage speakers of critical languages a fully funded scholarship to Georgetown University for intensive instruction in English. Upon completion of the program, Scholars have a one-year federal service requirement.

The Language Flagship
The Language Flagship provides grants for universities to create language learning programs in Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Persian, Portuguese and Russian. Each program offers an intensive language and culture curriculum accessible for all undergraduate students and culminating in a capstone year abroad in which students live, work and study fully immersed in the target language, and reach a superior level of language proficiency.

Language Training Centers
The Language Training Center (LTC) Program provides language and culture training for Department of Defense (DoD) personnel. Through funding from DoD, LTCs leverage existing university and college language and culture programs to meet the needs of DoD organizations and units.

Project Global Officer
